Welcome to The Hill Country Rally for Kids
Seven years ago a group of localindividuals decided to create a car and motorcycle show in Driftwood and Dripping Springs to support needy boys at a local residential treatment facility. The Burke Rally has been a tremendous success over its six-year history raising a significant amount of support both financially and through personal involvement with the boys.
As the Rally and the community grew, it became apparent that the needs of children in the community were growing as well. Many children need financial support in order to participate in extra-curricular activities, improve their education opportunities, have access to healthy food and good nutrition, and in some cases, proper clothing and sufficient healthcare. This ever-growing need has weighed on the founders and prompted a discussion concerning the role and mission of the Rally.
After much discussion, review and prayer, the founders have decided that the best course of action is to make the following changes to the mission and role of the Rally.
First, more adequately describe the expanded role. Thus, the name of the Rally will be changed from the Burke Rally to The Hill Country Rally for Kids.
Secondly, the beneficiaries of the Rally’s proceeds will be expanded beyond the boys residing at theBurkeCenterto include other local children’s programs and activities in which the majority of donations go directly to the children’s activities they define in their Bylaws.
The Hill Country Rally for Kids is now incorporated and in the process of obtaining its 501(c)3 status.
This year’s rally funds will benefit the boys at theBurkeCenter, scholarships for kids through the Dripping Springs Youth Fund (501(c)3) and the DS Tiger Totes program (501(c)3). Other children’s programs may be considered as appropriate needs are identified.
